Railjet (RJ) trains combine speed and style on journeys through some of Europe’s finest scenery. State-of-the-art technology on these flagship high-speed trains set new standards for travellers in central Europe and the Alps. The trains are owned and operated by ÖBB Austrian Railways and CD Czech Railways.

Railjet services operate within Austria and the Czech Republic, between the two countries, and beyond Austria’s borders into Germany, Hungary and Switzerland. Twice hourly Railjet services are provided on the popular route from Vienna to Salzburg. Services through the Tyrol to Switzerland and other routes are generally at two-hourly intervals. Railjet trains tackle steeply graded Alpine routes with ease. Sit back and watch the scenery as your Railjet cruises over the Semmering Railway or through the Tyrol.

Railjet trains have three classes of service, are equipped with air-conditioning and offer free Wi-Fi. Expect comfortable seats, ample space for luggage and good on-board catering. Power sockets are available at all seats. Wheelchair users with a Standard Class ticket can travel in one of the designated areas in First Class.

Seating and sleeping on Railjet

Standard Class

Standard Class on Railjet trains does not mean any skimping on service. The open-plan carriages are stylish and airy with plenty of legroom. Seats are in groups of four around tables, and there are also pairs of airline-style unidirectional seats. A small on-board cinema shows cartoons and children’s films to entertain youngsters.

Trolley Service

A trolley service serves drinks and cold snacks in Standard Class.

Child and youth passengers

The definition of "Child" and "Youth" varies by country and operator. This is why we ask for the age of young passengers.

Sometimes children below a certain age can travel without a seat for free. If you want to guarantee a seat for child passengers, enter '6' as the age of the child.
